Aspiring Gordon and Jamie's
Top ten tips for aspiring Gordon & Jamie’s:
- Make your own mint sauce to go with that succulent leg of lamb. Simply mix malt vinegar, granulated sugar and finely chopped mint together
- Herb ice cubes – culinary herbs such as mint & parsley can be frozen in ice cubes to provide flavourings to cold summer drinks or can preserve fresh herbs to be used at a later date
- Mint as a garnish goes extremely well with Greek halloumi cheese
- To become familiar with the specific flavor of a herb, try mixing it with butter, let it set for at least an hour, and spread on a plain cracker
- Whole sprigs of rosemary are good in marinades, especially for lamb and will give a subtle, smoky flavour when placed under meat or poultry being barbecued or roasted
- Don’t chop basil as this can turn it dark, just rip and tear!
